Bwana Spoons a été élevé dans les bois. Il aime la mousse, les Lego et les monstres.
Quand il était petit il reproduisait au crayon toutes ses figurines Star Wars, mais il les a toutes perdues lors d’une bagarre contre une moisissure géante.
Il aime créer des fanzines et des bds et des peintures et designer des figurines et mélanger des arcs-en-ciel avec des animaux.
Récemment il a été piqué par la mouche du textile et il se plait à transposer son univers sur différents styles de vêtements.
Il a travaillé récemment avec Dekline, Vans, Nike 6.0, Converse, Nickelodeon, Top Shelf. Il a exposé notamment chez Giant Robot, Super 7, OX-OP, La Luz de Jesus, G-1988…
Depuis quelques années il est aux commandes de Grass Hut qui est un studio-galerie-boutique à Portland, sa ville d’adoption.
Artoyz a l’honneur de l’accueillir pour sa première exposition en Europe où il présentera de nouvelles peintures qu’il accompagnera de customs de figurines et d’une installation du 25 Septembre au 2 Novembre 2008.
Deux toys exclusifs, répondant au doux nom de Globby, sortiront également pour l’occasion.
Le vernissage aura lieu le Jeudi 25 Septembre en presence de l’artiste.

Bwana Spoons was raised in the woods. He likes moss and Lego and monsters. When he was a little one he would draw detailed crayon renderings of all his favorite Star Wars figures.
When he was older he lost them all in a battle with a mildew giant. He likes making zines and comics and paintings and silk-screened prints and designing toys and making things with rainbows and animals. Recently Bwana was bitten by the textile bug. He has designed shoes for Converse, and Dekline, tees for Giant Robot, and MonsieurT., and baby strollers for Bumbleride.
Over the years he has worked on and/or created several zines and comics. “Ain’t Nothin’ Like Fuckin’ Moonshine” was the first and longest running; his most recent projects include Pencil Fight, and Soft Smooth Brain, and the upcoming Welcome to Forest Island.
Bwana’s work can be viewed in print in the Sci-Fi Western, Truth Show, and most recently the Melvins’, Beasts, and Qee books. His illustration work clientele includes Nike 6.0, Hewlett Packard, Nickelodeon, Top Shelf, The Stranger, Dogtown, Hessenmob, Imaginasian TV, Laika, Monsieur T, Buster Design, WK, Uno Caol, Vans, Converse, Dekline, and others.
For the past years he has teamed up with super Grass Hut partner Justin Scrappers Morrison to run Grass Hut in Portland : a studio space, gallery, and boutique of fine handmade goods.
This is his first exhibition in Europe, and he’ll be in the attendance for the opening party that will take place on Thursday 25th September from 7PM
