When did the shop open its doors?
Since May 2004.

Can you explain the name “Aimecube” ?
We were looking for a long name. We chose something that means nothing special to be timeless. So the first letter of Marie, Manu and Morgane which is “M” cubed (3XM), and we wanted a french touch so we wrote it literally.
Otherwise I studied architecture after highschool, and I like the volume of the cube also.

How many are you in the team?
Mainly two today: Marion and me.
But there is also Eddy who is shop assistant, Lil Chris, Alizée and Loan who are never really far away. And there is a lot of people who are around us, some connections.

How did you meet? And What is your personal background?
The both of us studied architecture after highschool, we met there.
Marion gave up college in 2002, and she went to the south of France to work at the management of a Hotel/Restaurant. Meanwhile, I graduated.
After that, I was a waitress in NYC, in the Lower East-Side at the Pink Poney, before opening the shop in Paris.
Marion lived a few months in L.A. and in San Francisco too. She lived in NYC also a few years earlier.
Finally we got together working on Aimecube

How did you have the idea to open Aimecube ?
At the beginning we wanted to do a magazine. Finnaly we decided to open a shop: business and the direct side of the thing.

What is the shop’s concept?
It is hard to be objective, we didn’t want to do something specific. But we are definitely like a sneakers shop or a concept store, as you want, so we aim a public a little bit particular.

What kind of brands and products does your shop propose to the public?
We propose brands such as: Wood Wood, Peg Leg, Reason, Keep, Ubiq, Official, Mama, Married to the Mob, Ten’s, Rated Rookies, CTRL… Brands which are really hard to find for connoisseurs.
People won’t always buy a t-shirt 60 euros, so we select some products, we try to do it well by proposing exclusive items, pieces that don’t let you the choice. Here is the point of the job.

What do you think about Streetwear and Streetculture in France ?
I think that the country is mixed-race, especially in Paris. There is a real hip hop culture at the basis. Sometimes it’s a mess, but I think that the energy is good, even if it is inseparable from the United States or Japan, the international scene.

What is your priorities for the year 2008?
This year we will develop our online shop www.aimecube.fr , we will receive some higher end products, and there will be a big part of the work on the collaborations.
For the moment I don’t speak too much, but there will be sneakers, caps and clothing. It will be huge !
And we are delighted because this kind of products is really exciting. There will be also events in club.

One last word?
Vive Paris !
(I love my city)
